  • Join ERCO for this hands-on opportunity to learn more about the principles of museum lighting. This session is geared to attendees for whom gallery lighting falls under your department, want to learn more about this aspect of exhibitions, or may have a renovation/addition/capital project coming. Starting with the basics to more advanced topics, you will gain a better understanding of the ways that simple changes in light can have major impacts on the presentation of artwork and exhibitions. The session will mix presentations, demonstrations, hands-on/interactive elements, and a project visit to see these principles in action.
  • Transportation, lunch and snacks included
  • Limited to 23 attendees
  • Presenters:
    • Richard Fisher; North America Market Leader, Culture Cluster, ERCO
    • Matthew Cobham, Global Market Leader, Culture Cluster, ERCO
    • TBC

Optional Program Thursday, October 17, 2024
  • We'll leave the bustle of New York City behind and travel to bucolic New Canaan, Connecticut. First settled in 1731, this community became a retreat for wealthy New Yorkers who flocked there to enjoy the pastoral beauty of the commuter rail line in 1868. New Canaan was a center of the modern design movement in the 1940s and 50s, and its experimentation with materials, construction methods, space and form can be seen in many of the still-existing modern buildings. Perfectly timed to enjoy the fall foliage, the additional day will allow participants to visit notable properties in all their autumnal splendor. We will have guided tours at the Glass House, the Phillip Johnson building, and Grace Farms, a SANAA-designed building on 80 acres of publicly accessible natural landscape.
  • Transportation and lunch included
  • Limited to 50 attendees
